W. R. Berkley appoints Moede as Berkley Risk president

W. R. Berkley Corporation appoints Christopher L. Moede as president of Berkley Risk, with immediate effect. Moede succeeds John Goodwin, known as Jack, who has been named chairman of the business. Moede brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the commercial insurance market, most recently leading a global underwriting segment at a major multinational insurer. Goodwin joined Berkley Risk in 2012 and served as executive vice president before being named president in 2014. W. Robert Berkley, Jr., chairman, chief executive officer and president of W. R. Berkley Corporation, says: “We are pleased to welcome Chris to Berkley Risk. He brings outstanding leadership skills and broad experience in developing risk solutions for customers.” Berkley adds: “We thank Jack for his many years of exceptional service and numerous contributions to our business. We are delighted he will continue in the role of chairman.” Berkley Risk provides at-risk and alternative risk insurance programme management services for a range of groups and individuals, including public entity pools, professional associations and self-insured clients. As a third-party administrator, the business manages workers' compensation, liability and property claims across the US. W. R. Berkley Corporation was founded in 1967 and is an insurance holding company operating in two segments of the property casualty insurance business, Insurance and Reinsurance & Monoline Excess. The company describes itself as among the largest commercial lines writers in the US.
