Strategic Risk Solutions promotes Smith to account executive

Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) promotes Matthew Smith to account executive, based in Tennessee. Smith moves up from senior account manager, a role he holds at the firm since May 2017. He works at SRS for more than nine years. In his previous role, Smith manages a portfolio of captive insurance companies and risk retention groups, overseeing financial reporting, operations, compliance and corporate governance for each entity. He acts primarily as controller or director of finance for his clients, reporting to their boards of directors and owners. His responsibilities include liaising with the State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance on behalf of clients and the firm, alongside financial institutions, accountants, actuaries and other service providers. He also advises regional management on operational, compliance and IT initiatives, and attends captive association conferences in the region. Smith is a certified public accountant licensed in the State of Tennessee, with more than 10 years of audit, tax, accounting, management and consulting experience across public and private clients in North America. Before joining SRS, Smith serves as assistant vice-president and senior loan analyst for healthcare at Pacific Western Bank in Franklin, Tennessee, from July 2015 to May 2017. He performs financial diligence on borrowers including skilled nursing facilities, hospitals and other healthcare providers. Earlier in his career, Smith spends almost six years at Crowe Horwath, rising to audit manager. There he oversees the captive insurance audit season and builds relationships with captive managers, actuaries, risk managers and the parent companies of the captives served by the firm.
