James Bulkowski serves as a senior director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in New York, advising global organisations on captive insurance, alternative risk financing, and strategic tax and insurance solutions. Bulkowski brings more than 25 years of experience, having advised multinational corporations, financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies on risk management, captive insurance structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and tax strategy. The work has spanned complex transactions, risk transfer solutions and integrated insurance, actuarial and tax advice. Before joining Alvarez & Marsal, Bulkowski was a senior manager in the global insurance division of EY, where Bulkowski held several leadership roles, including co-leader of the Americas captive services group and leader of the insurance diligence transaction and corporate insurance consulting groups. The role included a multiyear secondment in the Cayman Islands, helping expand the firm's captive insurance consulting practice across the Caribbean. Earlier in his career, Bulkowski held senior roles at Aon, latterly as senior vice president, and at Marsh as vice president, developing and managing client portfolios, leading merger and acquisition advisory engagements, and designing insurance programmes across domestic and international markets.
