AM Best assigns a Financial Strength Rating of 'A-' (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of 'a-' (Excellent) to Westcor Land Title Insurance Company (Westcor), the fronting carrier for Grid151's title reinsurance structure. The outlook assigned to the ratings is 'stable'. Grid151 is a programme manager specialising in title reinsurance for real estate-focused captive owners, providing programme administration and distribution to insureds, captives and carrier partners nationwide. Westcor serves as its fronting carrier partner. Grid151 states that the rating strengthens the strategic relationship between the two organisations and is expected to create additional opportunities for growth, including expanded distribution capabilities, enhanced reinsurance relationships and increased confidence among trading partners. Clint Casabella, senior vice president of strategy and business development at Grid151, says: "Achieving an A- rating from AM Best is a tremendous accomplishment for Westcor and an important development for our programme business. As a programme manager, we place enormous value on carrier stability, long-term capacity, and financial credibility. This rating further validates the strength of our partnership and enhances our ability to deliver trusted insurance solutions to the captive insurance marketplace." Steve Black, president and chief operating officer of Westcor, says: "Receiving this rating reflects the strength of our balance sheet and disciplined underwriting philosophy, and will be a tailwind to the momentum and success we are seeing in the title reinsurance programme. We are proud to partner with Grid151 whose market leadership has helped drive sustainable growth and strong programme performance. Together, we remain focused on delivering specialised insurance solutions backed by financial strength and operational excellence." The ratings reflect Westcor's balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management. AM Best notes that the balance sheet strength assessment is supported by the strongest level of risk-adjusted capitalisation, as measured by Best's Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR), with surplus growth largely funded by internally generated capital from profitable underwriting, investment and overall operations. Westcor ranks as the fifth largest title insurance underwriter in the US based on 2025 premiums written, a position AM Best notes has been achieved amid rising interest rates and a slowdown in the real estate sector. Grid151 describes Westcor as the nation's largest independent title insurance underwriter and the fifth largest overall. AM Best says the 'stable' outlook reflects its expectation that Westcor will maintain its very strong balance sheet strength and adequate operating performance despite fluctuations in the housing market and broader economic moderation. Grid151 and Westcor state that they will continue collaborating on strategic programme opportunities designed to meet the demands of the commercial real estate and financing market.
