The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) welcomes Megan Merritt and Ashley Dorsey to its captive insurance team as Captive Insurance Specialists. In their roles, both Merritt and Dorsey analyse the overall performance of assigned captives and review and process requests submitted by those captives. Mark Wiedeman, captives director at TDCI, says: "I'm thrilled to welcome two new members to TDCI's Captive Insurance team." Merritt joins after graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in accounting from Trevecca Nazarene University in May 2025. Her earlier roles include a position as a Cash Management and Investment Accounting Intern at the Tennessee Department of Treasury, as well as a Student Ambassador position with the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. Dorsey brings 15 years of auditing experience with the States of Georgia and Tennessee. Most recently, she spent two and a half years auditing the Tennessee Opportunity Act, work intended to ensure that grant funds supported families on their path to stability. Her earlier audit roles include positions with the Tennessee Department of Human Services Office of Inspector General and within Georgia's Department of Community Health and Department of Early Care and Learning. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of West Georgia. Wiedeman adds: "We're looking forward to Megan and Ashley's deeper dive into captive insurance while growing into strong analytical assets for TDCI."
