Bauer joins Signicat as chief product officer

Digital identity solutions provider Signicat appoints Emma Bauer as its new global chief product officer. Bauer joins the executive team to scale the company's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform as the insurance industry and wider financial sector face sweeping regulatory shifts under eIDAS 2.0 and the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR). Based in Stockholm, Bauer brings a combination of technical expertise and strategic executive experience, having started her career as a developer. She joins the firm with a track record of scaling product organisations within high-growth, sophisticated technology environments. As chief product officer, Bauer focuses on executing the company's future product strategy during a period where artificial intelligence and stringent regulatory demands are high on the corporate agenda. In the captive insurance space, robust digital identity solutions are increasingly vital for managing multi-jurisdictional compliance and onboarding corporate policyholders. As captives often operate across borders, the ability to streamline KYC (know your customer) and AML processes through a unified platform is a significant efficiency driver. The European digital identity landscape is currently defined by contrasting consumer habits, ranging from the Nordics, where electronic identity (eID) usage is a daily standard, to Southern Europe, which requires different onboarding and authentication solutions. Through eight strategic acquisitions, Signicat has built a product portfolio allowing businesses in highly regulated sectors, including insurance and financial services, to grow across borders despite regional fragmentation. Commenting on the appointment, Asger Hattel, CEO of Signicat, says: "We are operating a highly sophisticated, innovation-driven one-stop-shop proposition to our customers, solving one of Europe's biggest challenges: cross-border digital trust. For this, we needed a well-reputed scale-up leader who combined strong CPO experience with unique technical roots." Hattel adds: "An individual with the ability to push both shorter time-to-market, innovation, and new methods with all the toolkits the AI era has to offer. Beyond Emma's impressive technical roots and product expertise, there is a very strong cultural match. Her proven ability to empower and manage high-performing, distributed teams across different regions makes her key to taking Signicat to the next level in our scaling journey." Bauer says: "Digital identity is the foundation of a modern society, but the varying consumer behaviour and impending regulations across Europe create an incredibly intricate puzzle for businesses to solve. Signicat has uniquely positioned itself to solve this by providing a unified platform that manages cross-border transactions. "I was drawn to the company's clear purpose, its transparent and collaborative culture, and its leading market position. This is an exciting scaling phase, and I am thrilled to help shape the future of trust across Europe and beyond," she continues. Founded in 2006, Signicat provides a digital identity platform that integrates identity proofing, authentication, and electronic signing. The company was acquired by private equity investor Nordic Capital in 2019. Signicat currently serves more than 20,000 customers in 45 countries, helping organisations meet European and global regulatory requirements. The firm actively contributes to shaping Europe's future digital identity ecosystem and participates in several EU Digital Identity Wallet large-scale pilots, including WE BUILD, Aptitude, NOBID, and EWC. Today, Signicat employs more than 530 people across 20 offices in 15 European countries.
