ISACA has introduced its new Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR) certification, designed to equip IT risk professionals with the specialised skills to govern, assess and manage the complex risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI). As organisations increasingly leverage AI across their business operations, risk professionals face the challenge of balancing transformative potential with vigilant management of new vulnerabilities and threats. The AAIR credential validates a candidate’s ability to evaluate AI-related vulnerabilities, assess opportunities and impacts, and navigate the entire risk lifecycle. It focuses on three key practice areas: AI risk governance and framework integration, AI lifecycle risk management, and AI risk programme management. Those pursuing the certification are trained to recommend effective responses to AI risk and collaborate across functions to ensure comprehensive oversight. Erik Prusch, CEO of ISACA, says: “AI is moving faster than many organisations are prepared for, and IT risk professionals are on the front lines. The launch of AAIR gives risk professionals the practical skills they need now to understand, assess and manage AI risk.” To qualify for the certification, candidates must have proven experience in IT risk or advisory roles and hold one of 25 prerequisite certifications, such as CISA, CISM, or CRISC, in addition to passing the certification exam. Additional resources are available to those seeking to become AAIR certified, including the AAIR Online Review Course, the AAIR Questions, Answers & Explanations Database, and the AAIR Review Manual. The AAIR credential joins ISACA’s growing suite of AI-focused certifications, which also includes the Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) credential and the Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) credential. Shannon Donahue, chief content and publishing officer at ISACA, adds: “For decades, ISACA has set the standard for trusted leadership in credentialing and training to help digital trust professionals rise to the occasion amid technological changes. As continuous learning becomes even more vital with the rapid pace of change, our growing suite of AI-focused certifications and learning tools will equip our professional community to drive responsible innovation for their organisations.”
