Hartwell Insurance promotes Maconaghy to sales director

Hartwell Insurance promotes Tyler Maconaghy to sales director. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Maconaghy also serves as vice president at the firm, a role he has held since joining the company in March 2024. In his new position, Maconaghy focuses on delivering bespoke captive solutions. He aims to bridge his experience in the excess and surplus (E&S) lines sector, specifically commercial property, with primary and excess liability programmes for large construction and transportation companies. Maconaghy has more than 10 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to his time at Hartwell, he served as a risk management consultant at Oxford Risk Management Group for two years. His career also includes brokerage and producer roles at Maximum Independent Brokerage, LLC, where he worked as an E&S broker, as well as Worldwide Facilities, LLC and AssuredPartners NL. He began his professional career as an insurance agent at Allstate. Maconaghy holds a bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. During his education, he gained international experience as an intern with Allied Risk Management in Dublin, Ireland. In this role, he worked with the president of actuaries to establish risk appetites and frameworks for captives and reinsurance firms, while also preparing Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) documents for European captives. Hartwell is a protected cell captive insurance company (PCCIC) domiciled in Tennessee. The firm provides tailored captive insurance solutions, including policy writing, cell formation, and ongoing management. Tennessee is currently recognised as one of the fastest growing captive domiciles in the US. Commenting on the market environment, the firm says: “In a market where it is becoming progressively harder to insure property in weather prone states, Hartwell has created an unmatched solution. Property is the name of our game but let us provide solutions for all lines of insurance.” Regarding its service model, the firm adds: “We offer a totally bespoke service; every client is unique. We can write policies for your new company, help set up the new cell, run the new business and advise you at every step of the way.”
