The Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association (PARIMA) concludes its first masterclass of the year in Hong Kong with close to 100 attendees. The event, held at The Mira Hong Kong Hotel, features six sessions focused on regional risk management strategies. This includes an exclusive session for members hosted by Steve Tunstall, co-founder, director and general secretary of PARIMA, and board member Antonio Kam, who serves as head of insurance Asia Pacific at BASF. Five additional sessions are led by the association's partners, including Aon, AXA, Descartes Underwriting, FM and Marsh. The series opened with a session from FM titled “From Ignition to Containment: Loss Prevention Strategies for Combustible Construction”. The session examined fire risks within environments using combustible materials, focusing on engineering-led decisions to reduce the severity of fire events. Commenting on the event, Stanley Chan, senior learning specialist at FM, says: “Risk managers, brokers and C-suite leaders face growing challenges when protecting facilities built with combustible materials especially in a dense, fast-moving economy like Hong Kong and its surrounds. Our session examines ignition, human factors and critical protection systems, sharing practical, engineering-led strategies that strengthen resilience and reduce the likelihood and severity of fire events.” PARIMA is a not-for-profit organisation representing more than 2,600 members across the Asia-Pacific region. The association collaborates with 31 partners to provide educational resources and networking opportunities for the risk management community.
