Studer and South appointed to new leadership roles at Marsh

Marsh has appointed Nick Studer as president and CEO of Marsh Risk, succeeding Martin South, who transitions to the enterprise-wide role of chief client officer. Both appointments are effective 1 April 2026. Studer and South will continue to serve on the company’s executive committee and report to John Doyle, president and CEO of Marsh. Studer previously served as president and CEO of Oliver Wyman, a role he held since 2021. He joined the firm in 1997 and held several senior consulting positions across the financial services, industrial and consumer practices. He is also a founding director of TheCityUK and a founding advisory board member of the FICC Markets Standards Board. South, who became president and CEO of Marsh Risk in 2022, will now focus on bringing the company’s unique capabilities together to assist clients in navigating the global risk landscape. Having first joined the firm in 1985 with Bowring Marsh, he rejoined in 2007 and has served as CEO for multiple regions including Asia-Pacific, UK and Ireland, Europe, and US and Canada. His previous experience also includes a tenure on the group management board at Zurich Financial Services. Commenting on the appointments, Doyle says: “Our vision is to make Marsh the most impactful professional services firm in the world. These appointments will help us accelerate growth, increase our agility, unlock additional value for our clients, and realise our vision.” Regarding Studer’s appointment, Doyle adds: “Nick joined Oliver Wyman nearly 30 years ago, and in the last five years, as its CEO, has driven tremendous growth. His experience advising corporate and public sector leaders on risk and transformation makes Nick the ideal executive to continue Marsh Risk’s market leadership and further its trajectory of growth and service excellence.” Doyle concludes: “Martin has decades of experience serving clients and driving innovation. He has deep relationships across industries, and as Chief Client Officer, will bring our unique capabilities together to help clients navigate the increasingly complex global risk landscape.” Marsh expects to announce a new CEO for Oliver Wyman and Marsh Management Consulting by 1 April.
