The Cayman Actuarial Network (CAN) officially launches, marking a significant milestone for the actuarial profession in the Cayman Islands. Following the debut of its social media presence in December, the network's website went live in February to serve as a central hub for professionals at all career stages. CAN aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the region's growing actuarial sector through networking and educational initiatives. The initiative is designed to strengthen the local community while supporting the long-term reputation of the Cayman financial services industry. Rachel Funk of Aureum Re, who also serves as regulatory vice chair of the Cayman International Reinsurance Association (CIRCA), says: “CAN has been created to connect professionals, encourage collaboration, and support the development of actuarial talent locally. We’re excited to see this network grow and deliver meaningful value to our community.” The network is supported by CIRCA, an association that represents the jurisdiction's insurance and reinsurance ecosystem. Conor Kearney, marketing chair of CIRCA, notes that a strong actuarial community is essential to the credibility of the sector. Kearney adds: “CAN will play a valuable role in developing talent, strengthening professional connections, and reinforcing Cayman’s position as a leading international financial centre.”
