Marsh Risk adds capacity to Nimbus insurance facility

Marsh Risk, a business of Marsh, announces a significant capacity increase to Nimbus, its insurance facility for large-scale data centre construction. The facility now offers limits up to US$2.7 billion, including coverage for delay in start-up and business interruption. Nimbus supports major data centre projects across the UK, US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Launched in June 2025 as a dedicated structure for large-scale digital infrastructure, Nimbus aims to mitigate specific risk exposures and provide financial protection for developers and capital providers. The facility is currently deployed on projects in the US, UK and the Netherlands. The facility draws on a panel of A-rated insurers from the Lloyd’s and company markets. In addition to insurance capacity, Marsh’s Global Digital Infrastructure team provides expertise in areas including cybersecurity, energy and power. Mike Mathews, global digital infrastructure leader at Marsh, says: “Demand for more powerful and efficient data centres is accelerating technological innovation, particularly around AI and machine learning, which will revolutionise the way we live and work and reshape economic landscapes over the next decade”. Mathews adds that the firm is helping clients in the sector to grow sustainably by harnessing global resources in interconnected areas such as capital management, off-site power generation and operational resilience. He concludes: “Marsh is enabling data centre developers, operators, and owners to strengthen their delivery and resilience as we embrace the age of Industry 4.0”.
