Stewart joins Dickinson Wright as of counsel

Hale Stewart joins Dickinson Wright’s Austin office as of counsel. He focuses his practice on insurance regulatory and tax matters, specifically within the captive insurance arena. Stewart counsels clients on the formation and management of captives, including analysing existing business structures to determine viability for captive formation. He assists clients with drafting feasibility studies, insurance policies, and corporate documents, while interacting with captive service providers regarding ongoing compliance issues. Kevin Doherty, chair of the captive insurance practice group at Dickinson Wright, says: “We are thrilled that Hale is joining Dickinson Wright’s captive insurance practice. His deep knowledge and experience in captive insurance significantly broadens the firm’s capabilities in this growing and continually evolving market”. Prior to joining the firm, Stewart served as captive development officer at Higginbotham Insurance. He is also the author of the book Designing a Risk Financing Program, which outlines processes for captive insurance programmes. Stewart received his LL.M. in international and domestic taxation from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, his J.D. from South Texas College of Law, and his B.A. from Trinity University. Dickinson Wright’s captive insurance team provides services to businesses across various industries, including Fortune 500 companies and trade associations. The firm’s core captive and tax team includes Kevin Doherty and Tony Greer in Tennessee; James Mauro, Emily Burdick, Angelique Neal, and Peter Kulick in Michigan; and Troy Terakedis in Ohio.
