AXA DCP and ICEYE partner to track extreme weather events

AXA Digital Commercial Platform (AXA DCP) has partnered with ICEYE to enhance the prediction of and response to extreme weather events, including floods, wildfires and hurricanes. AXA DCP, an AI-powered risk management system, will utilise ICEYE’s ultra-high-resolution real-time synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. ICEYE operates the world's largest SAR microsatellite constellation, providing persistent, all-weather monitoring. Its satellites offer global coverage and high-resolution imaging down to approximately 25 cm. Pierre du Rostu, CEO of AXA DCP, calls the partnership a “landmark deal” that reflects the platform’s “ongoing commitment to using state-of-the-art technology to transform insurance”. The collaboration aims to address the challenges of the current “polycrisis”, where interconnected risks require high-quality, interoperable Earth Observation data for effective management. AXA DCP follows a holistic approach focused on prediction and prevention, allowing clients to anticipate and mitigate potential harm from rising threats such as natural disasters and geopolitical shifts. Stephen Lathrope, SVP solutions at ICEYE, says: “Scaling access to ICEYE’s advanced SAR technology through AXA DCP is a transformative step for the insurance and risk management sector.” ICEYE provides near real-time insights for various sectors, including defence, intelligence and insurance, and serves as a data supplier to several NATO members, including Finland, Poland and The Netherlands.
