Stewart promoted to head of captive management and advisory at AIG

AIG promotes Brenda Stewart to head of captive management and advisory within the company’s captive solutions team. In her new role, Stewart will lead AIG’s global captive management, segregated cell, and advisory groups. Her responsibilities include overseeing client relationship management, business development, operational performance, and leadership of the captive management team. Stewart is a veteran of the captive industry, bringing more than 23 years of experience to the position. Based in Burlington, Vermont, she previously served as vice president of AIG Captive Solutions. During her tenure at the firm, which began in 2003, Stewart has developed extensive expertise in managing professional teams that provide daily services to captive insurance clients. Her leadership experience spans a wide variety of structures, and she frequently serves as a director or officer for single-parent, group, and cell captives, as well as reciprocals. Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Stewart is an active figure in the captive community. She currently sits on the board of directors for the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) and was honoured in 2020 with the association's Captive Crusader award. She holds the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation from the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE). Before joining AIG over two decades ago, Stewart spent 10 years working with a non-profit organisation and five years within the business software sector. Commenting on the appointment, Ryan Gustafson, head of captive solutions at AIG, says: “I am pleased to share the promotion of Brenda Stewart to Head of Captive Management & Advisory. In her new role, Brenda will lead the global captive management, segregated cell and advisory groups within AIG Captive Solutions. She will oversee client relationship management, new business development, operational performance, and leadership of the captive management team. With more than 20 years of captive experience at AIG, Brenda is an ideal fit for this position as we build on the team’s strong track record of results delivering expertise, innovation and an exceptional client experience.”
