OneNexus partners with Travelers for energy sector surety programme

OneNexus, a financial technology and insurance platform, announces a strategic partnership with The Travelers Companies (Travelers) to launch a new surety programme specifically for the energy sector. The partnership allows Travelers, North America’s largest surety provider, to issue surety bonds backed by OneNexus’ long-term funding platform. The programme is designed to help energy companies guarantee the performance of long-duration decommissioning and reclamation obligations. The combined offering integrates traditional surety capacity with a modern financial assurance structure to provide operators, sellers, and regulators with stable, long-term capacity for infrastructure needs. Commenting on the partnership, Tony Sanchez, CEO of OneNexus, says: “We are proud to partner with Travelers — a premier name in the surety industry — to deliver a modern solution that aligns surety capacity with long-term plugging and abandonment obligations.” Sanchez adds: “This partnership enables us to combine Travelers’ industry-leading surety capabilities with OneNexus’ long-term, pre-funded liability model, creating a more resilient financial assurance framework for operators and regulators.” Chris Tata, head of commercial surety at Travelers, notes: “We believe our partnership with OneNexus represents innovation at its best. Combining insurance principles with the traditional surety structure helps reduce risk, increases affordability, and enables companies to properly fund their decommissioning obligations.” OneNexus’ model is supported by regulatory capital from Munich Re, which provides long-term, irrevocable capital commitments to the platform. The partnership news follows AM Best recently assigning a Financial Strength Rating of ‘A-’ (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of ‘a-’ (Excellent) to OneNexus Oklahoma Captive Corp, both with a ‘stable’ outlook. Adam Flikerski, chairman of OneNexus, concludes: “OneNexus has built the financial technology required to responsibly fund the decommissioning obligations associated with the next generation of energy and infrastructure assets.”
