Michael Corbett begins his new role as managing director and senior vice president (SVP) at Pinnacle Financial Partners. In this position, Corbett leads Pinnacle’s dedicated captive insurance business unit, which focuses exclusively on the banking and trust requirements of captive and reinsurance companies. Corbett is joined in this effort by team members David Shamblin, senior vice president and trust and wealth advisor, and Tom Blanchard, senior vice president and financial advisor, as the firm continues to expand its insurance banking services. Corbett’s extensive background in the captive industry includes serving as the chief regulator for the state of Tennessee from 2011 to 2019. During his tenure as director of captive insurance, he oversaw the licensing of more than 650 risk-bearing entities, which generated over US$1.6 billion in annual insurance premiums. In addition to his role at Pinnacle, Corbett serves as the president of the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association (TCIA) and is the president of Apex Captive Insurance Company. He also holds board positions with Square Mile Insurance Company and Lass Re, LLC, and serves as an advisor for Promethean Risk Solutions. Commenting on his new role via LinkedIn, Corbett says: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Managing Director, SVP at Pinnacle Financial Partners!” He adds: “Pinnacle's Captive Insurance effort will be a separate business unit exclusively dedicated to the banking/trust needs of captives and reinsurance companies. Along with David Shamblin, Tom Blanchard and others, we're taking insurance banking to the next level!”
