AIG, Amwins and Blackstone launch Lloyd’s syndicate 2479

American International Group (AIG), Amwins and Blackstone have partnered to form Syndicate 2479, a new special purpose vehicle (SPV) at Lloyd’s. Commencing underwriting on 1 January 2026, the syndicate is managed by Talbot Underwriting Limited and will initially manage US$300 million of premium. The portfolio consists of a diversified cross-section of Amwins’ delegated authority premiums, which total approximately US$6 billion. The structure is backed by capital commitments from Amwins and funds managed by Blackstone. As part of the initiative, AIG is collaborating with Palantir to deploy generative AI (GenAI) capabilities. This technology is used to enhance data retrieval and provide comprehensive analysis of portfolios, enabling AIG to validate risk characteristics and align them with the syndicate's risk appetite. AIG has developed an ontology that allows large language models to access more than four million industry data points to expand its underwriting capabilities. Peter Zaffino, chairman and CEO of AIG, says: “Our partnership with Amwins and Blackstone represents the next level of innovation, technical modelling and use of GenAI for portfolio underwriting.” He adds: “The formation of Syndicate 2479, which includes capital investment provided by Amwins and Blackstone, further advances our deployment of GenAI through a capability that can evaluate risk with more data and analytics at the individual level to optimise the special purpose vehicle.” Scott Purviance, CEO of Amwins, says: “We are excited about this new partnership which allows us to invest aligned capital alongside our multiline dedicated underwriting portfolio. In addition, it will facilitate our ability to create new programmes and build long-term sustainable capacity.”
