Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Insurance Association has named Zahir S. as CEO.
He brings over 25 years of experience in financial services across both developed and emerging markets and over 18 years of experience in the region. He has served as a board member for the association for three years.
Zahir S. has held executive roles within general insurance in the UK, EU, Middle East, Africa and Asia, having most recently served as group CEO at Best Doctors Insurance. He also worked as general manager at Zurich and as regional vice president for APAC at AIG.
Zahir S. comments: “We have significantly enhanced our position over the recent years to present a unified voice on global insurance and risk matters whilst enhancing our platform to support members. Our mission remains to continue the development of the insurance industry collaborating with strong partners and regulators in a rapidly changing environment."
Phillip Story, chairman of the DIFC Insurance Association, states: "Having known and worked with Zahir for nearly 15 years, I am absolutely delighted to be able to have him as the new CEO for the DIFC Insurance Association.
“His passion and commitment to growing the association have been evident ever since he joined and became a key part of the changes and developments we have implemented over the last few years."
