Clarke elected as new President of the Insurance Institute of London

The Insurance Institute of London (IIL) has selected Lucy Clarke, president of risk and broking at WTW, as its new president for 2024-25.

Clarke, who previously served as the institute's deputy president from 2022-24, makes history as the first woman to hold the position in the IIL's 117-year existence.

She joined WTW in 2024 with over 25 years of industry experience focused on client service, specialty classes and insurance placement.

Prior to joining the firm, Clarke was president of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement from 2019-2023, and was previously with the JLT Group for 17 years.

Commenting on her election, Clarke says: “I am delighted to be president of the IIL and appreciate the opportunity to serve its people and support its vital work.

“The institute’s role in cultivating ongoing knowledge and raising the standard of professionalism in our industry has never been more important. These are consequential times for our clients, and we must ensure that we are ready to support them as they face increasingly complex risk landscapes.”
