Canopius Group has hired Soon Keen Lee as CEO of Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Middle East-North Africa (MENA), subject to regulatory approval.
Lee will lead Canopius’s APAC business units across Singapore and Australia, taking over from Mark Newman, who recently moved to become UK CEO in London.
She will report to Canopius CEO Neil Robertson and take part in the company’s leadership team.
The new hire joins from AIG APAC, where she served as head of commercial property and small and midsize enterprises.
Commenting on the appointment, Robertson says: “Lee has all the qualities necessary to help us take the next step in our journey in the region. She brings a deep knowledge of the market and her leadership style will complement our positive culture.”
Lee states: “I want to advance the business, continuing to achieve ambitious targets year-on-year. There are many exciting opportunities for us to not only cement our status as Lloyd’s syndicate in Singapore, but also to develop our fast-growing proposition in Australia.”
