Joel Chansky, most recently a consulting actuary at actuarial and consulting firm Milliman, has retired.
Chansky served a 36-year tenure at the Seattle-headquartered business and has property and casualty insurance experience that includes loss reserving, valuation studies, funding studies for captives and self-insureds, rate filing reviews for regulatory authorities, and expert testimony.
Prior to joining Milliman, Chansky worked as an actuarial analyst at the American Agricultural Insurance Company.
Throughout his career, he has assisted with the formation and the ongoing actuarial needs of many captive insurers. He also reviewed captive and risk retention group applications for several state insurance departments.
Chansky is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a former board member and president of Arizona Captive Insurance Association and Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia.
He was also a long-standing board member of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA), serving as treasurer, vice-chair, chair and immediate past chair.
