Property and casualty (re)insurer Sompo International (Sompo) has appointed Jesús García Matas as head of property insurance for Iberia.
García Matas will be based in Sompo’s new Madrid office and will report to Jamie Cañellas, country manager insurance, Iberia.
García Matas has more than 10 years of industry experience with specific knowledge of property and energy underwriting, multinational programmes and claims.
He joins Sompo from Generali Insurance, where he most recently served as head of claims for Iberia and Latam.
Commenting on García Matas’ appointment, Cañellas says: “With his diverse background and extensive product and market expertise, we’re well positioned to strengthen and build relationships with clients throughout the region and deliver solutions that meet their needs.”
