Hiscox Re & ILS has appointed Minesh Shah as its new director of underwriting risk, effective 1 May.
Hiscox Re & ILS is the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities arm of Anglo-Bermudian specialist insurer Hiscox.
In his new role, Shah will be responsible for driving optimisation across HisCox Re & ILS’ reinsurance portfolio and those for third-party capital.
Shah will also become a member of HisCox Re and & ILS executive team. He will be based in Bermuda, and will report to Kathleen Reardon, CEO of HisCox Re & ILS.
Shah has more than 20 years experience in property and casualty reinsurance. He is currently chief actuary and chief risk officer at Hamilton Re, where he is responsible for reserving, pricing, and capital modelling.
Commenting on Shah's appointment, Reardon says: “As we look to seize the opportunities in this hard market, Minesh’s expertise will be a great asset.”
