Transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson has appointed Douglas Butler as a partner in the corporate and securities group, based at the company’s Atlanta office.
Butler has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, primarily serving as outside counsel to captive insurance managers and owners.
He joins Womble Bond Dickinson from law firm Moore Ingram Johnson & Steel, where he was a partner and leader of the captive management and insurance regulatory division.
Commenting on the appointment, Jamie Francis, head of the corporate and securities group, says: “[Butler’s] unique perspective as a former captive manager will be extremely beneficial to our clients in the corporate and securities industry, and we are excited to welcome him to the firm.”
Jeffrey Simpson, head of the company’s captive insurance practice, adds: “As our practice expands to meet the needs of our clients, adding Doug to our team expands the reach of our subject matter and geography. He has experience with a variety of regulatory issues in multiple US domiciles.”
