Mark Wiedeman exits the Utah Insurance Department

Mark Wiedeman is to leave The Utah Insurance Department to become a resident director
for Utah-domiciled captives and an independent captive consultant for the industry.

Wiedeman joined the Utah department in 2012 and most recently served as assistant director of the Captive Insurance Division.

Stephanie Liu will replace Wiedeman as assistant captive director. Liu began her tenure with the department in November 2016 as a captive analyst and financial examiner.

Commenting on his departure, Wiedeman says: “I am grateful for the career I have developed in captive insurance by working at the department and through my association with my fellow captive regulators.

“It has been an honour to work for both the department and captive director, Travis Wegkamp. The decision to leave was not an easy one, but I look forward to being able to support the industry in my new role and for my continued association with regulators and industry leaders.”

Liu comments: “I am honoured to be presented with this opportunity taking over Mark’s role as the assistant director for the Captive Insurance Division. I have been working closely with the team for the past six years and will continue to do so in the many years to come.

“I am looking forward to the challenge and opportunity of assisting captive director Wegkamp to expand Utah’s presence in both the national and international captive insurance industry.”
