Courtney Claflin has joined Fluid Truck, a virtual truck rental platform for delivery, catering and construction companies, as head of insurance.
In his new role, Claflin is responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of wholly-owned captive insurance companies to finance the organisational risks of Fluid Truck and its subsidiary operations with optimal efficiency.
Claflin previously served as executive director of captive insurance programmes at University of California, Office of the President, since April 2015.
In this role, he was responsible for the development, implementation and management of the UC system’s captive platform and all captive activities, including strategic planning and governance of existing programmes, and forming new strategies and alternative captives.
Before this, Claflin was national captive insurance practice leader at CBIZ.
Commenting on his new role via LinkedIn, Claflin says: “I am delighted to announce that I have joined an amazing, industry-changing technology company, Fluid Truck, whose innovation and explosive growth is changing the transportation industry. I look forward to creating captive insurance companies and risk financing arrangements to most efficiently finance our organisational risks.”
He adds: “I also want to thank Cheryl Lloyd at the University of California, Office of the President, for taking a chance on a hockey player from North Dakota seven years ago, to move to California to build and grow captive insurance companies for the UC system. Cheryl, thank you, we made a difference for the University, its faculty, staff, students and employees!”
