Liberty Mutual Re, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Alice Sharman as senior underwriter for casualty reinsurance.
Sharman brings more than 10 years of experience in reinsurance — firstly in actuarial and capital modelling, before moving to underwriting — to the role, where she will be responsible for underwriting the firm’s US Casualty Treaty portfolio based in London.
She will report to Ralph Stainbank, underwriting manager for the reinsurance casualty division.
Sharman joins Liberty Mutual Re from AXA XL, where she was casualty reinsurance underwriter from 2019.
Prior to this, Sharman spent six years at Hiscox in a number of roles, including senior capital analyst, assistant underwriter and, most recently, underwriter.
Commenting on the hire, Stainbank says: “Alice is a very welcome addition to our Casualty underwriting team. Her broad experience and strong broker relationships will strengthen our offering and add real depth to our underwriting capabilities.”
