One Concern, an alternative risk firm specialising in climate resilience and hazard science, has appointed Sean Rider as chief revenue officer.
In his new role, Rider will be responsible for scaling and expanding the commercialisation of One Concern’s resilience-as-a-service solution for climate adaptation, extreme weather and natural catastrophes.
One Concern applies multi-peril technology, such as data science, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to analyse the direct and collateral impact of natural disasters and climate change-related catastrophes.
The firm integrates hazard science with AI to create hyperlocal and event-specific visualisations of disaster risk, based on structural and seismic engineering, hydrodynamics, remote sensing, and atmospheric and meteorological sciences.
Rider previously served as executive vice president and head of client development, North America in Willis Towers Watson’s risk and analytics business, where he was responsible for global initiatives, new product development and scalable approaches.
Before this, Rider held the position of executive vice president and managing director of consulting and development at Willis Towers Watson’s global captive practice, where he oversaw the development and execution of alternative risk financing consultancy and alternative risk transfer solutions.
Ahmad Wani, co-founder and CEO of One Concern, comments: “We are thrilled to welcome Sean to the One Concern team. His established leadership and expertise across strategic risk finance and the alternative risk space will enable us to offer our clients unparalleled value in the resilience space.”
Rider adds: “I am incredibly excited to join an energetic team committed to building resilience to increasing climate threats and other disasters. By combining best-in-class research with ML, One Concern transforms how the market measures and manages resilience.”
