Marsh & McLennan Agency has appointed Paul Hering as vice chairman.
In the newly created role, Hering will be responsible for helping to lead Marsh’s key growth strategies, including talent development, acquisitions, and carrier relations.
He also will continue to serve on Marsh’s national strategy team helping to develop and execute key corporate initiatives.
Previously, Hering served as chairman of Marsh’s west region, a role he assumed after
16 years as CEO of Barney & Barney, a San Diego-based insurance agency which was acquired by Marsh in 2014.
Based in San Diego, Hering will report to David Eslick, Marsh chairman and CEO.
Eslick said: “Hering is an outstanding industry leader with nearly four decades of experience in serving clients’ insurance needs. He has been a key member of our national leadership group since joining Marsh, and I am delighted that we will continue to benefit from his knowledge and guidance at a national level.”
