International General Insurance Holdings (IGIH) has hired three senior underwriters at IGI UK as part of a strategy for growing its London-based operations.
Barry Marren has been named international direct and facultative property underwriter, Maria Fahy has joined as treaty underwriter, and Joanne Forester will serve as assistant aviation underwriter, effective 1 June 2015.
Marren has spent 30 years in the reinsurance markets, starting his career at Syndicate 994 at Lloyd’s of London. He went on to work for XL Insurance, and later Markel Insurance, where he wrote an international property portfolio of direct and facultative business.
Fahy started her career at Excess Insurance and went on to work for Hartford Re, Lloyd’s Syndicate 566, Endurance Worldwide, and most recently Chaucer Syndicate at Lloyd’s, where she was class underwriter of international property treaty.
Forester has 30 years of experience in the London aviation market, with 19 in underwriting and 11 in broking. She has expertise in airline and general aviation, underwriting and broking, most recently at United Insurance Brokers.
Andreas Loucaides, CEO of IGI UK, said: “[Fahy] will strengthen our current offering from Treaty Underwriter Simon Levy who is based in Amman, Jordan, and will provide further support to our existing clients and brokers, as well as developing new business opportunities in London and internationally.”
“[Marren’s] appointment here in London further enhances our property team based in Amman as we continue to grow these profitable books of business. [Forester] will play an important role in helping us to strengthen our general aviation team.”
