Transatlantic Underwriters (TAU) has launched a new property and casualty (P&C) division as part of a strategic move to diversify its service offerings beyond transportation.
The expansion introduces six new lines of business: commercial general and excess liability, commercial property, inland marine, builders risk, and garage.
The company has appointed Bernadette Flores as senior vice president of P&C to lead the new division. Flores brings more than 24 years of experience in the excess and surplus P&C sector, with a focus on contractors, garage, habitational and hospitality.
Colby Waltenburg, president of TAU, comments: “Since founding TAU, I have always envisioned expanding beyond our transportation specialty when the timing was right.
“Our transportation operations are thriving, and we are now positioned to diversify our offerings to better serve existing customers and welcome new partners.”
Flores adds: “I have known Colby for over 20 years and have always admired TAU’s approach to specialty insurance.
“The opportunity to build a new division from the ground up is something I have aspired to accomplish during my career.”
