The Georgia Captive Insurance Council (GCIC) has officially launched in Atlanta, with Travis Bowden elected as chairman of the board.
Bowden's background includes serving as the executive director of the Georgia Republican Party and working as a governmental affairs consultant at the Georgia State Capitol.
He is also a certified insurance examiner and holds a number of designations, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI).
The new organisation, established as the sole trade association and advocacy group for captives and risk retention groups in Georgia, replaces the Georgia Captive Insurance Association, which dissolved in 2023.
"As the former supervisor of captive insurance and risk-bearing entities for the Georgia Department of Insurance, I know what a vibrant captive insurance domicile Georgia is," Bowden states.
He adds: "It is my intention to build on the previous successes in the captive insurance market in Georgia.
“This is the perfect time to resume issue advocacy for Georgia captive companies, both in Atlanta and Washington. We are excited to announce that Georgia captives are back."
