Baron Philippe de Rothschild launches new captive in France

French winemaker Baron Philippe de Rothschild is the latest company to launch a captive in France with its new entity, BPHR Re.

The captive is based in Pauillac, Bordeaux, with an initial capital of €37,000.

Eric Bergman, managing director and board member of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, will lead BPHR Re and serve as the chairman of the captive's board.

Since the introduction of reformed captive legislation in June 2023 in France, the number of captives in the country has gradually increased, reaching 20 at present.

Last month, French multinational aerospace and defence corporation Safran received approval to re-domesticate its Luxembourg captive to France.
