The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) has partnered with several captive professional groups to address the captive industry’s current recruitment challenge. The challenge comes amid mass retirement rates within the industry.
As part of the initiative, the VCIA has joined the Vermont Captive Insurance Emerging Leaders (VCIEL) group in an effort to recruit more students into the industry.
VCIEL will hold regular meetings to provide student outreach and networking opportunities, while cultivating the emerging talent already working in captives. It also welcomes talented speakers who can offer advice to young people considering a career in captive insurance.
A launch party will take place on 12 April at Pizza44 in Burlington, and the broader captive community is invited to support this initiative, says the VCIA.
Kevin Mead, president of the VCIA, says: “VCIA is proud to work with the VCIEL to take strategic actions that yield positive results for the industry. We take this workforce challenge seriously and the group is a deliberate way to seek effective solutions.”
Brittany Nevins, a major catalyst for the group and the captive insurance economic development director for the State of Vermont, adds: “We are at a critical time in our industry where there’s a rapid growth in captive formations, while those who are providing services to these companies are retiring faster than those entering the industry. We will address this challenge proactively in Vermont with VCIEL.”
