Skyward Specialty Insurance Group (Skyward) has opened a new unit to spearhead its entry into the global agriculture sector.
The unit will be headed by newly appointed senior vice president of global agriculture, James Tran, and will initially offer secondary and reinsurance solutions for food and fiber crops.
It will also provide these solutions for timber, livestock, aquaculture and other renewable resources.
Tran is a seasoned global agriculture underwriting leader, according to Skyward. Most recently, he served as the managing partner at Jasperian Consulting. He has also held various leadership roles at insurance companies including Tokyo Marine Kiln, XL Catlin and Catlin Group.
Skyward is a specialty insurance company, delivering commercial property and casualty products on a non-admitted and admitted basis. Skyward operates through eight underwriting divisions, including captives.
