Artex Risk Solutions (Artex) has appointed George McGhie as its new strategic advisor for Asia Pacific (APAC).
Based in Singapore, McGhie will provide business development, consultancy, management and related services to clients and prospects in the region.
McGhie has 42 years of experience in the insurance industry, spending the last 30 years in Asia where he held prominent senior roles at Howden Insurance Brokers, Jardine Lloyd Thompson Asia Pte and JLT Insurance Management, among others.
He has established and managed regional captive operations with some of the major global brokerages, and created and managed many insurers in the APAC region, including special purpose vehicles.
Commenting on McGhie’s appointment, Michael Matthews, international commercial director at Artex, says: “The Asia Pacific is rapidly developing not just as a captive market, but as a centre for sophisticated risk finance mechanisms which have been actively embraced by regional domiciles like Singapore, Labuan and Hong Kong.”
He adds: “George has played a leading role in the development of the captive market across Asia Pacific and we are delighted to have his support as we build on our successes to date and continue to position Artex across the region.”
