Registration opens for hybrid Bermuda Captive Conference

The Bermuda Captive Conference will return to a partially in-person event in September for the first time in three years.

The hybrid 2022 event will be held between 12-14 September at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, with remote attendees participating via an interactive online platform that will stream sessions.

With the theme of “Fusion” following the launch of the Bermuda Captive Network, sessions will cover a range of topics examining current trends in the global captive market, such as the post-pandemic risk landscape, legacy cell issues, reinsurance partnerships with captives, ESG opportunities, and a review of the base erosion and profit shifting framework.

The conference will also include educational sessions, keynote speakers, interactive panel discussions and networking opportunities.

Marking the 60th anniversary of the Bermuda captive industry, the 2022 event will have interviews from several captive owners reflecting on the experience, depth and innovation of Bermuda’s captive industry.

Conference chair Leslie Robinson (pictured, who also serves as senior vice president and head of underwriting and claims at Willis Towers Watson Management) will announce the 2022 Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement Award at the event to celebrate leading figures in the Bermuda captive industry.

Commenting on this year’s conference, Robinson says: “The commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Bermuda captive industry holds extra significance for both the Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement award and Bermuda’s Captive Hall of Fame awards. These awards were created to reflect the evolution and impact of Bermuda’s globally important insurance market, highlighting the spirit of innovation which saw the world’s first captives established on the island in the early 1960s.

“We extend our sincere thanks to these long-standing Bermuda captive owners, and we also recognise the committed contributions that Bermuda’s industry titans have made to help build and grow Bermuda’s captive industry into the mature domicile we see today.”
