Luxembourg ended 2020 with 199 reinsurance companies, according to Commissariat Aux Assurances (CAA).
In 2019, Luxembourg had 196 reinsurance companies, according to the Captive Insurance Times Domicile 2020 Guidebook. In 2020, Luxembourg gained four new reinsurance companies and had one closure.
Luxembourg established its captive market in 1983 and is now home to Europe’s largest reinsurance market.
