Arkansas continues growth in 2019
The State of Arkansas licensed three new captives during 2019, bringing the total number of captive companies in the state to nine.
As with the three previous years, no captives surrendered their licences in 2019.
In 2019, Arkansas changed their law to let risk retention group (RRG) captives and allow for captive mergers and conversions, including those with alien insurers.
Arkansas also updated its laws in 2019 to reduce capital requirements. Additionally, it added more flexibility for the sale, transfer, or assignment of protected or incorporated protected cells.
The Natural State has been refining its captive laws with significant changes since 2017.
