Attendees of this year’s Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) ‘mission possible’-themed Annual Conference can expect to hear from the industry’s experts on a range of current hot topics, including tax, cyber security, healthcare and more.
The conference, now in it’s 32nd year, will host 1,100 people from all over the world for two and a half days of captive education. Sessions will vary from the most basic to the advanced.
Jamie Brache, deputy managing director of credit and political risk at Zurich North America and the conference keynote speaker, will address attendees on 9 August between 10am and 12pm.
Brache will provide his thoughts on the impact of climate change on the broader insurance marketplace and, drawing on his background, will discuss some of the potential implications of climate change on risk management and the global political risk environment.
The annual VCIA conference would not be complete without David Provost’s hot topic panel on the agenda.
Provost, deputy commissioner of Vermont’s captive insurance division, will share news and views on recent developments in captive regulation and practice.
The event also marks Ian Davis’s first VCIA conference. Davis replaced Dan Towle, the new president of the Captive Insurance Companies Association, as director of financial services for the agency of commerce and community development for Vermont in April.
In a recent interview Davis said he was “very excited” for the event. He explained: “I am looking forward to being as active and engaged as possible throughout the conference, meeting with potential captive owners, as well as captive managers and their clients who are looking at Vermont as a domicile.”
