The Captive Insurance Companies Association is kicking off its new webinar series on 21 April 2016.
The webinar, Small Captives: As The World Turns, will cover how and why navigating business and captive ownership rules effectively is vital to the successful use of the US Internal Revenue Code 831(b) election for small captives.
Speakers include Daniel Kusaila, tax partner at Crowe Horwath; Charles Lavelle, senior partner at Bingham Greenbaum Doll; Tim Tarter, captive insurance tax audit and litigation defence counsel at Woolston & Tartar; and Anne Marie Towle, vice president and senior captive consultant at Willis Towers Watson.
The speakers will cover the history and uses of small captives, provide clarity on current tax, premium and ownership rules, and share impacts of tax cases, amendments and other factors affecting the future of small captives.
Towle commented: “People have many questions about the new legislation and they want to understand the grandfathering and structuring of a proper captive.”
“Understanding IRS tax audits and what the agents look for in the audits helps people to be better prepared.”
