The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has named its 2013 committee chairs and vice chairs and assigned members to the organisation’s standing committees.
Jim Donelon, the NAIC president and Louisiana insurance commissioner, said: “This year’s committee leadership brings invaluable expertise and insight that will be critical to advancing issues important to our regulatory framework.”
“Our greatest assets are the deep bench of the membership and the commitment to working together to enhance the national system of state-based regulation. This year’s leadership team represents one of the NAIC’s strongest yet.”
The 2013 NAIC committee leadership appointments include:
Julie Mix McPeak, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance who has been named chair of the life insurance and annuities committee.
Sandy Praeger, commissioner of Kansas Insurance Department who has been appointed as chair of the health insurance and managed care committee.
Mike Chaney, commissioner of Mississippi Insurance Department who has been named chair of the property and casualty insurance committee.
Thomas Leonardi, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Insurance who has been assigned as chair of the international insurance relations committee.
All committee assignments were decided earlier this month by NAIC leadership, based on each member’s preferences and experience, as well as requirements established by the NAIC’s Bylaws.
