NFP launches group captive practice with Trinity Risk Advisors acquisition

NFP, an Aon company, launches its property and casualty (P&C) group captive practice following the acquisition of Trinity Risk Advisors.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trinity Risk Advisors is a captive brokerage firm specialising in the group captive model. Its president, Alan Wise, leads the new practice as a managing director.

Wise reports to Meg McSherry, managing director and head of P&C in NFP’s Atlantic region. Wise previously sold Trinity Consulting to NFP in 2015 before founding Trinity Risk Advisors.

The new practice serves companies seeking greater control and efficiency over their P&C risks by pooling resources with other businesses. The team assists clients with evaluating eligibility, identifying appropriate programmes in the market and supporting the transition into a captive structure.

The group captive practice complements NFP’s existing captive consulting and management business, the Risk and Insurance Strategy Collective (RISC). Based in Burlington, Vermont, RISC focuses on the formation and management of single-parent captives, segregated cell captives and risk retention groups.

Commenting on the launch, McSherry says: “We’re excited to formally establish a group captive solution that helps small and mid-size clients retain certain risks at lower costs. Alan’s technical expertise and leadership in managing all aspects of the group captive model will enable clients to unlock its benefits and position themselves for long-term financial strength and stability.”

Wise adds: “I’m thrilled to help launch NFP’s Group Captive practice and provide clients with a collaborative risk-sharing mechanism tailored to their risk management needs. The educational component is especially exciting. I’ll be advising NFP producers on the most effective group captive structures available in the market, helping clients achieve greater cost efficiency, improved cash flow and more control of their insurance programmes.”
