Captive Coalition announces the launch of Ascend, a captive insurance programme designed exclusively for independent agents.
Based in Tequesta, Florida, the firm provides appointed agents with access to captive solutions alongside education, strategy, and sales training. The programme utilises Ascot Insurance Company and Ascot Specialty Insurance Company as the fronting issuing carriers.
The initiative aims to provide a structured path for independent agents to offer risk solutions to premium clients. Captive Coalition operates under a set of rules designed to protect agent relationships, including working exclusively with independent agents and refusing broker-of-record transfers without the agent's involvement.
Warren Cleveland, founder and CEO of Captive Coalition, says: “As a former independent agent, I learned captives the hard way. I lost a US$300,000 client, a client I had spent years with on the renewal hamster wheel. The truth is, I didn’t take captives seriously. I wasn’t educated. I wasn’t prepared to have that conversation”.
Cleveland adds: “Appointed agents get real education, real strategy, and real access to a captive. Not just information, but the tools to actually have confident conversations with clients”.
The programme focuses on transparency in costs and processes, providing resources to help agents communicate with clients through each step of implementation.
Mark Benz, executive vice president and head of alternative risk solutions at Ascot Group U.S., comments: “When agents are supported and taught, not just given access to captives, they can become more confident, and in turn, can provide better options to their clients. We’re proud to partner with a programme that puts that philosophy into practice”.
