International specialist insurer Hiscox has appointed Peter Clarke as chair designate, effective from 1 July.
Clarke will join the board on 1 June and will succeed interim chair Colin Keogh, who is stepping down from the board the following month.
A qualified solicitor, Clarke brings significant experience across executive and non-executive roles in financial services companies. He spent two decades at Man Group, where he served as both group chief financial officer and CEO.
Clarke has also held non-executive positions at Axa Investment Managers, Sainsbury’s Bank, and most recently served as chair of Lancashire Insurance Holdings for seven years.
He currently chairs investment firm Redwheel and sits on the US, European and Swiss boards of Lombard Odier Asset Management.
Keogh comments: “Peter will be a great addition to the board, and the business will benefit immensely from his vast experience, particularly as it relates to Bermuda-domiciled insurance carriers.”
Aki Hussain, group CEO at Hiscox, adds: “Peter’s significant expertise in financial services, his experience of growing businesses in the US, as well as his deep understanding of the big-ticket insurance market make him a great addition to the board.
“Peter joins us at an exciting moment in the development of Hiscox, as we pursue ambitious expansion plans, and I very much look forward to working with him.”
Clarke says: “I have admired Hiscox for some time, particularly the diversity of its offering and the quality of the team, factors which provide a strong platform for further growth. I look forward to joining the business and contributing to the team’s exciting plans.”
