Savill named as CEO of Pacific at Guy Carpenter

Guy Carpenter, a global risk and reinsurance specialist, has appointed Ben Savill as CEO of the Pacific region. The role will take effect from 1 April 2024.

Based in Sydney, Savill will report directly to Tony Gallagher, CEO of Asia Pacific at Guy Carpenter.

Jeff Saper, the outgoing CEO for the Pacific region since 2019, will become head of Guy Carpenter Facultative Insurance in Asia Pacific, and move to Hong Kong from 1 July.

Saper will succeed Luc Morement, who will assume the role as regional sales leader in Asia Pacific.

In his new role, Savill will lead Guy Carpenter’s broking operations in the Pacific, focusing on strategic growth and addressing the complex needs of clients.

Previously, he worked as chief underwriting officer (CUO) at Convex Insurance in Bermuda.

Prior to this, he held various senior industry roles in Bermuda, including group CUO at Fidelis Insurance and head of North American Treaty at Amlin.

Commenting on the appointment, Gallagher says: “With our enhanced team and strong regional footprint, we are well positioned to deliver solutions and support clients across Asia Pacific.”

Savill states: “The Pacific region faces a number of specific reinsurance risks, including heightened natural catastrophe exposures, local regulation and varying economic headwinds.

“I look forward to being part of the journey in supporting Guy Carpenter’s clients and shaping its future growth strategy in the Pacific."

As part of Marsh McLennan, Guy Carpenter contributes to the firm's expertise in risk, strategy and people, serving clients across 130 countries with more than US$20 billion in annual revenue.
