WTW brings climate and risk and analytics under common leadership

Global advisory, broking and solutions company WTW has brought its climate and risk and analytics capabilities under common leadership. Peter Carter has been appointed head of climate practice.

In doing so, the firm aims to help clients quantify, mitigate and transfer climate-related risks. Refocusing the climate practice will allow WTW to more closely align itself with client demand in this area, it says.

Carter has more than 25 years of industry experience, and joined WTW as finance director for investment, risk and reinsurance in 2015. He currently serves as global head of captive and insurance management solutions.

Over the course of his career, Carter has held a number of senior roles at companies including HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group and Barclaycard International.

Commenting on the announcement, Carter says: “Clients are looking for ever greater support in understanding what climate risk means for their organisations. WTW has significant climate expertise, which combined with the company’s core risk and analytics capabilities and risk management strengths, makes us ideally qualified to help clients navigate this growing challenge.”

John Merkovsky, head of risk and analytics at WTW, adds: “The re-focused climate practice is another step in delivering on our ‘smarter way to risk’ commitment through ongoing investments in superior data, technology and talent.”
