Paul Bonny retires after 41 years at TransRe

Paul Bonny has retired from his role as TransRe’s executive vice chairman, after 41 years at the company. Bonny will remain a member of TransRe’s board of directors.

Established in 1977, New York-headquartered TransRe is the brand name for Transatlantic Holdings and its subsidiaries (including Transatlantic Reinsurance Company), a wholly owned subsidiary of Alleghany Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway company.

Bonny founded TransRe’s international division, opening its London office in 1982. Since then, he has built a team of almost 200 employees, and played a key role in creating the global reinsurance brand.

Commenting on Bonny’s contribution to the company, Ken Brandt, TransRe’s president and CEO, says: “Paul has been an institution both at TransRe, and across the London, and international markets throughout my reinsurance career. For the past 17 years I have been able to call on his advice and counsel, and I have been lucky enough to call him my friend.”
