Jackie Obusek appointed as chief deputy commissioner of NCDOI

The North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) has appointed Jackie Obusek to take over from Dr Michelle Osborne as chief deputy commissioner of the department, effective 16 August.

Since joining the department in 1966 as financial examiner, Causey has fulfilled multiple financial regulatory leadership roles in her 56 years of service at the firm.

In 2017, Causey was appointed as senior deputy commissioner. In this role she was responsible for overseeing divisions including those responsible for financial examination and actuarial services.

Most recently, in 2022, she became part of the senior leadership for the captive insurance companies, after the retirement of previous head of captives Debbie Walker and her replacement, Lori Gorman.

Speaking on the announcement, Causey says: “Throughout her career Jackie has demonstrated financial leadership and has represented the department across the state and nationally. We look forward to Jackie’s continued leadership with us.”
